Federal Government don officially open new fertility care centre and maternity complex inside University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for people wey dey Borno State and other parts of North-East.

Na North-East Development Commission (NEDC) build the new facility as part of government effort to improve healthcare for the region and make sure say people no need to dey travel far-far places before dem fit get special medical treatment.

The new centre na solar-powered facility, and e don come fully equipped with different modern medical machines and equipment wey doctors and medical workers need to attend to fertility and maternity cases.

Among the equipment wey dey inside na Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, ICSI machine, incubators, oxygen concentrators, Spermifuge, laboratory equipment and furniture, among other medical facilities.

Speaking after the commissioning for Maiduguri on Tuesday, Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Ahmadu, describe the centre as world-class fertility facility.

Ahmadu say the equipment wey dem install for the centre dey among the best medical technology wey person fit find anywhere for the world.

According to am, the new centre go help reduce the number of people wey dey leave Borno and other North-East states to travel go far places just to get fertility treatment.

The minister say instead of families spending plenty money on transportation, accommodation and other expenses to travel outside the region, dem fit now access quality fertility healthcare closer to house.

Ahmadu also praise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying say through the North-East Development Commission, the Federal Government don continue to pump serious investment into different sectors for the development of the region.

He explain say the new fertility centre na just one part of NEDC intervention for the health sector across the North-East.

The minister further reveal say NEDC dey also work on other important healthcare projects, including pharma-grade drug storage facilities wey dem plan to establish across the six states of the North-East.

Ahmadu commend the Borno State Government for supporting the project and call on residents of the region to continue to support the Federal Government.

He say government investment like this one go make life easier for citizens because dem no go need to abandon their communities and travel go distant locations before dem fit receive specialised medical attention.

The minister also use the opportunity to appeal to citizens to do their own part as Nigeria dey gradually move towards another election season.

Meanwhile, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, don also commend the Ministry of Regional Development and NEDC for putting serious attention on healthcare development across the North-East.

Zulum recall say NEDC recently procure modern MRI machines and CT scanners for almost all the tertiary health facilities across the North-East sub-region.

According to the governor, government spend about N70 billion on the procurement, describing the money as a major investment into healthcare for the region.

Zulum say the investment show say NEDC dey take the health needs of people for the North-East seriously.

He assure NEDC say governors of the six North-East states go continue to support the commission as e dey carry out projects wey go improve infrastructure and public services across the region.

The new fertility and maternity complex expected to provide specialised reproductive healthcare services for people wey dey Borno and neighbouring states.

The facility fit also help reduce the stress and financial burden wey families dey face when dem have to travel outside the region to seek fertility treatment.
