Federal Executive Council, under President Bola Tinubu, don approve a combined N1.02 trillion for major road construction and healthcare infrastructure projects across Nigeria.
For roads, government approve N74.51bn for the upgrade of the 15-kilometre East-West Road, from Port Harcourt/Eleme Junction to Onne Port Junction for Rivers State. The project get nine months completion timeline.
Council also approve N159.83bn for the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti-Iyin-Aramoko-Itawure-Osun State border road, with the project expected to finish within 24 months.
Other road projects approved include the Ado-Ekiti-Afe Babalola University Road at N54.52bn, and the Ilara-Iselu Road in Ogun State at N94.24bn.

Government also approve some road concessions, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Suleja-Minna road and a trailer park in Aro-Ngwa, Abia State. Government say private concessionaires go fund and operate these projects without direct Federal Government funding.
For the health sector, FEC approve several projects for National Hospital Abuja, including new administrative facilities, specialist clinics and theatres, a high-end medical wing and a dedicated Neuroscience Institute.
The projects include N18.74bn for an administrative management block, N64.92bn for modular clinics and theatres, N133bn for a high-end wing and N69bn for the Neuroscience Institute.
Another major approval na N302.30bn for the construction, furnishing and equipping of a new National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment Centre in Abuja. Government say the cancer centre get a 36-month completion period.
Health Minister Ali Pate say the investments go modernise Nigeria’s health infrastructure and make quality treatment more accessible to Nigerians.
He also note say the National Hospital Abuja don operate for more than two decades without the level of infrastructure and equipment investment require for a major tertiary healthcare facility.
According to the government, the latest approvals na part of the efforts to improve roads, transportation, specialist healthcare and cancer treatment for we country.
