2027 ELECTION: INEC NO GET CANDIDATE,E NO DEY SUPPORT ANY PARTY – AMUPITAN

INEC Chairman, Professor Josiah Amupitan, don assure political parties and Nigerians say the electoral commission go remain neutral and impartial for the 2027 general election.

Amupitan give the assurance during the National Peace Accord ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to am, INEC no get any preferred candidate and the commission no dey support or favour any political party.

He said: “INEC has no interest in who wins or loses any election. The commission does not have a candidate, nor does it favour any political platform.”

The INEC chairman also call on political parties and their candidates to make the 2027 campaign about ideas and solutions, instead of violence, insults and personal attacks.

Amupitan say Nigerians no dey look for politicians wey go only insult their opponents; rather, dem want leaders wey go present clear, practical and measurable plans to solve the problems wey dey affect the country.

He urged political actors to turn the campaign into a marketplace of ideas, where candidates go explain their programmes and tell Nigerians how dem plan to improve the country.

Amupitan also reveal say INEC preparations for the 2027 elections dey progress, with the commission working to strengthen its logistics and manage the huge number of personnel required for the nationwide election.

According to am, INEC dey prepare to handle about 1.4 million ad hoc election personnel across more than 176,000 polling units.

With the 2027 election fast approaching, the INEC chairman’s statement don again raise the question of whether the electoral body go fit maintain its neutrality and deliver a credible, peaceful and transparent election.
