Malami wey comot APC join ADC for July 2025, don even declare say e wan contest governorship for 2027, promise say e go “restore hope” for Kebbi people. But since den, reaction no be one kind — some people hail am, while critics talk say im ambition don die before e start.
One of di loud critics na Yahya Sarki, CPS to Kebbi Governor Nasir Idris, wey openly question Malami integrity, say person wey get 16–count charge no suppose dey talk about elective office.
Barely four months after im declaration, EFCC arrest Malami on December 8, 2025, over allegation of money laundering and abuse of office. EFCC dey prosecute am with im son, Abdulaziz Malami, and one woman, Hajia Asabe Bashir, over alleged billions of naira proceeds from illegal activities between 2015 and 2025.

But Malami camp no gree. Im media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, say everything na political witch–hunt and media trial, accuse EFCC of trying to spoil im oga image. Even Atiku Abubakar don talk say EFCC dey selectively target opposition politicians.
ADC for Kebbi also condemn di prosecution, say Malami no break bail condition, and accuse authorities of using politics take block im ambition.
