Osun Guber 2027: Accord Party Affirms Adeleke as Candidate, Accuses APC of Backing Parallel Primary

The Accord Party has reaffirmed Governor Ademola Adeleke as its duly nominated candidate, insisting that its governorship primary was lawfully conducted and accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring a parallel process to destabilise the party.

Speaking at a press briefing in Minna, the National Treasurer of the Accord Party, Chief Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen, said the party held a valid primary election on December 10, 2025, in full compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, and under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Salaudeen explained that Governor Ademola Adeleke was the sole aspirant in the primary, which involved 150 accredited delegates. According to him, Adeleke polled 145 valid votes, while five votes were voided due to incorrect thumb printing.

He noted that the exercise was transparent and credible, with INEC officials, security agents, members of the media, and independent observers present throughout the process. As chairman of the Electoral Committee, Salaudeen formally declared Adeleke the winner of the primary.

The Accord Party chieftain dismissed claims of a parallel governorship primary, describing it as an illegal and “kangaroo” exercise organised by individuals who were expelled from the party in 2024.

He alleged that the parallel primary was sponsored by the APC in Osun State as part of a plot to create confusion and weaken the Accord Party ahead of the election.

“In Accord Party, we do not have factions. We are united under the leadership of our National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem, and the National Secretary, Hon. Adebukola Abiola Ajaja,” Salaudeen said.

He added that the party does not recognise those claiming to have conducted another primary, stressing that their actions were unknown to INEC and contrary to the law.

Salaudeen further disclosed that leaders of the Accord Party in the North Central Zone met on Saturday, December 14, 2025, where they reaffirmed their confidence in the party’s national leadership.

He reiterated that the Accord Party remains focused on presenting a united front and offering credible leadership to the people of Osun State, despite what he described as attempts by political opponents to destabilise the party.
